| Lab News Congratulations to Aimee who just finished her BS (honor) with honors thesis. She will continue pursuing her PhD at the HCDR Lab. Aimee received the Graduate School Doctoral Fellowship (April 10, 2012). Congrats! The HCDR Lab welcomes a new undergraduate research assistant, Mark Ryan, to join us (March 30, 2012). Congratulations to James Long who successfully passed his MS thesis defense (March 27, 2012). Congratulations to Thomas who successfully passed his MS thesis defense (March 21, 2012). Dr. Yang received the 2012 SAE Ralph R. Teetor Educational Award (March 20, 2012). Brad Howard received the 2012 Helen DeVitt Jones Excellence in Graduate Teaching Award (March 20, 2012). Congrats Brad! Dr. Yang received the 2012 Air Force Summer Faculty Fellowship. PhD student, Jared Gragg, will also participate this research with Dr. Yang (March 16, 2012). Aimee Cloutier Received the prestigious 2012 CH Foundation Doctoral Fellowship from the Grdauate School, Texas Tech University (March 13, 2012). Congratulations Aimee! Two Ph.D. students (Jared and Zhipeng) from the HCDR Lab received checks and certificates from Dr. Chaudhuri, ME Department Chair for their journal publications. Dr. Yang was selected as the 2012 Transdiciplinary Research Academy Member. Aimee received GPH conference travel fund award from the Honors College, TTU. (Jan. 2012). Prasad Kumbhar joined the HCDR Lab to conduct research on ride comfort modeling. (January 17, 2012). Welcome Prasad! Dr. Yang received the Faculty Research Award from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, TTU (Dec. 1, 2011). Brad's paper "Calculating Support Reaction Forces in Physics-Based Seated Posture Prediction for Pregnant Women" has been accepted for publication by International Journal of Robotics and Automation (Nov. 28, 2011). Congrats Brad! Zhipeng's paper entitled "Human Face and N95 Filtering Facepiece Respirator Interaction: Contact Pressure Simulation and Validation" has been accepted for publication by Journal of Occupational and Environmental Hygiene (Nov. 2011). Aimee Cloutier received the 2011/2012 Undergraduate Research Fellowship (URF) from the Honors College (Oct. 1, 2011). Congratulations Aimee! Mr. Richard George joined the HCDR Lab as a Master student (August 2011). Thomas Powelson was awarded a travel fund from the Graduate School, TTU to attend ASME DETC 2011. Pierce McGrath received his BS in August 2011. Congrats Pierce! Six graduate students from the HCDR Lab (Brad, Jared, Burak, Qiuling, Zhipeng, and James) were awarded travel funds from the Graduate School, TTU to attend the 2011 HCI conference in Orlando this Summer. Aimee Cloutier, NSF REU student from the HCDR Lab, was awarded a travel fund from the Center for Undergraduate Research and the Honors College, TTU to attend the 2011 HCI conference in Orlando this Summer. Byron received his BS in May 2011. Congratulations Byron! Dr. Yang and two graduate students (Jared and Brad) attended the SAE World Congress in Detroit from April 12-14, 2011. Dr. Yang was nominated for the 2011 Outstanding Faculty Mentor from the Center for Undergraduate Research, TTU (April 14, 2011). Dr. Yang received the 2011 TTU Alumni Association New Faculty Award (April 12, 2011). Dr. Yang received the 2011 Whitacre Excellence in Research Award, College of Engineering, TTU (April 12, 2011). Dr. Yang was invited to serve as the editorial board member for International Journal of the Digital Human. (March 2011). Kyle Beck received his BS in Dec. 2010 and he continues to work with the HCDR Lab towards his MS. Jared's paper entitled "Hybrid Method for Driver Accommodation Using Optimization-Based Digital Human Models" has been accepted by Computer Aided Design (Nov. 25, 2010). Congrats Jared! Dr. Zhuang from NIOSH and Dr. Butler from NIST visited the HCDR Lab (Nov. 1, 2010). Prof. Blackmore visited the HCDR Lab (Oct. 21, 2010). Thomas Powerlson from the HCDR Lab received Chancellor's MS Fellowship (Oct. 1, 2010). Congrats! Thomas Powelson joined the HCDR Lab as a MS student after he got his BS from University of California-Berkeley (Sept. 28, 2010). Prof. Pitarch visited the HCDR Lab for one month in Summer 2010. Prof. G. Yang from NJUST, China visited the HCDR Lab for one month in Summer 2010. Dr. Yang was awarded the acquisition of 3D head scanner system from NIOSH (July 2010). Laura Aguilar joined the HCDR Lab as a PhD student. Welcome Laura! Prof. Zhang from Northern Michigan University visited the HCDR Lab for two weeks (May 2, 2010). Jared was awarded 3rd Place in the Ninth Annual Graduate Student Research Poster Competition (April 8, 2010), congrats! Robyn Boothby has received her BS and will start her MS this Fall semester. She is an undergraduate research assistant at the HCDR Lab in Summer 2010. Jared successfully defended his MS thesis (3-23-2010). Congratulations Jared! Dr. Yang was invited to serve as the Editorial Board Member for Ferrari Millechili Journal: Weight Reduction in Vehicle Design (supported by Ferrari, March 17, 2010). Call for Papers. Jared Gragg received the prestigious 2010-2011 AT&T Chancellor's Fellowship Awards (March 3, 2010). Congratulations Jared! Five graduate students (Jared, Zhipeng, Qiuling, Burak, and Brad) from the HCDR Lab were awarded travel funds from Texas Tech University to attend conferences (Feb., 25, 2010). Jared will attend the 2010 SAE World Congress and the other four students will attend the 2010 Applied Digital Human Modeling Conference in Miami. Byron joined the HCDR Lab as an undergraduate assistant (Jan. 25, 2010). Welcome Byron! Dr. Yang was awarded a seed grant from a private sector in Feb. 2010. Robyn has received the MS fellowship from TTU starting from Fall 2010. Congrats! Robyn joined the HCDR Lab as an undergraduate assistant (Jan. 13, 2010). Jichang's farewell party in Dr. Yang's house (Dec. 18, 2009). James Long received his BS and continues his MS degree with the HCDR Lab, congrats James! HCDR Lab moved to Room 142 from Room 150 on December 7, 2009. Dr. Yang was awarded a seed grant from NIST in December 2009. Dr. Yang visited UPC, Spain, Nov. 20-27. Jichang successfully defended his MS thesis (Oct. 28, 2009). Congratulations! Dr. Yang attended the ASME09 Conference at San Diego in Sept 2009. Dr. Yang was awarded a NSF grant in Sept. 2009. Dr. Yang attended NSF Design Workshop at Stanford University in August 2009.
Mr. Brad Howard joined the HCDR Lab in Fall 2009 as a PhD Student. Mr. Burak Ozsoy received TTU Harrington Graduate Engineering Scholarship. Ms. Qiuling Zou joined the HCDR Lab on July 28, 2009 as a PhD student.
Mr. Burak Ozsoy joined the HCDR Lab on July 16, 2009 as a PhD student. Dr. Xuguang Wang visited the HCDR Lab in July to collaborate with Dr. Yang on digital human modeling research for two weeks. Dr. Yang was awarded a research grant from National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) in June 2009. Dr. Yang attended the CAD'09 Conference June 8-12, 2009, at Reno, Nevada, USA. On May 15, 2009, James Long joined the HCDR Lab. Jichang was awarded a travel fund from Texas Tech University. Congrats to Jichang for receiving the James Douglas and Mary Hazlewood Memorial Fellowship for the academic year 2009-2010. Jichang's paper entitled "Simulating the Interaction between a Respirator and a Headform Using LS-DYNA" is accepted by Computer-Aided Design and Applications. Congrats Jichang for the nice work! On Jan. 14, 2009, Kyle King joined the HCDR Lab. Dr. Yang attended the 52nd Car Crash Conference in San Antonio, November 1-5, 2008. On Sept. 10, 2008, Jerad Gragg joined the HCDR Lab. On Sept. 2, 2008, Jichang Dai joined the HCDR Lab. On August 27, Dr. Yang received a grant from Caterpillar, Inc. On August 15, 2008, The Human-Centric Design Research Lab was launched.
